Luni Jančoraitė is a visual artist from Vilnius (LT), currently based in Rotterdam (NL). In 2024 she graduated with a master's degree, at the Piet Zwart Institute, Lens-Based media program. Luni often creates films in the genre of poetic documentary, prioritizing emotional and sensory experiences over objective truths and facts. Her work blends classical, experimental, and essayistic styles of documentary filmmaking, blending personal and historical narratives.
Luni’s artistic practice is research-based and evolves organically without a predefined vision of the final result. Motivated to reconnect with her Baltic roots and explore Lithuanian cultural and historical contexts, sometimes she starts projects by researching Lithuanian folklore, history, or traditions. Through poetic storytelling, Luni’s work reflects the intricate entanglement of past and present, exploring themes of identity, heritage, and the interconnectedness of humans and nature.
In addition to her artistic practice, Luni has experience working in the art department, coordinating the team, and assisting the production designers. She finds great satisfaction in helping others bring their creative visions to life.
